Mac Donald’s strive to survive

Mac Donald’s is one of the largest fast food brands all over the world. Over the years, the brand has suffered challenges. McDonald’s needs to add new meals to their menu given that there are eight that they have recently scrapped to replace with new meals. The idea of meals to be added can include a vegetable salad. Competitors have been promoting clean eating by discouraging the large servings that McDonald’s have been promoting to entice customers (Ebscohost, 2017).  The menu can also include two French inspired meals. These are meals that should have vegetables, cheese and fruits. This can be included in a bid to promote healthy eating as well. This is because McDonald’s is considered an unhealthy eating place today due to the sudden awareness of healthy eating by people.  For McDonald’s this will be a fight to stay relevant and remain profitable as well.

In the article, ‘About France,’ the French food is praised for being healthy and the epitome of greatness in the cooking business (About France, 2017). This article further explains why the food in France is good and healthy. The French culture generally discourages consumption of processed food that is ready to eat and all the quick fixes that the people in the United States go for at McDonald’s and other fast food eateries. For McDonald’s this will be a great challenge because preparing the healthy food takes more time and effort meaning that the prices will be relatively higher and less attractive to the clients.

On Ebscohost, the sizes of portions serves in the United States is generally observed. It is evident that the portion sizes in the fast food restaurants, McDonald’s included are too large and unhealthy. This means that when promoting their businesses these franchises capitalize on the quantity of their servings and not on the health of the clients. The health of the Americans is in danger with most of them admitting to putting on weight fast and having trouble losing it. The big portions are always attractive to the clients who see it as a way of getting more for a cheaper price. 

The article on Ebscohost touches on the quality of the food Americans consume. This is something that McDonald’s have to deal with when deciding what to put in their menu for the clients. The ability of the franchise to popularise fast foods should be utilized in promoting healthy snacking as well. This would mean that the portion sizes will be checked and set appropriately. The use of processed food items to prepare the meals should be reconsidered. Healthy snacking means the farm inputs being used such as the meat and chicken should always come from farms rather than factories where they have been treated and processed to make the preparation fast and easy. This article is an eye opener to the state of American health with regards to the feeding habit they subscribe to.

This is a challenge to the Americans to eat healthy as guided by the French meals which are normally carefully prepared for consumption. French food is kept as natural as possible for better health benefits and to ensure that the taste and texture of the food is original. The French culinary skills are renowned the world over. It is for this reason that the suggestion for the menu additions to the McDonalds menu, should draw inspiration from France.
