Marx’s Communist Vision

According to Ollman, it is known that Marx never wrote a book on communism but in his writings there are detailed descriptions of the upcoming society. He was conscious that people’s adjustment in their ways and views is mostly in reaction to an unbearable situation in the present. Thus, highlighting communism was not the most operative way of promoting working-class consciousness his close political objective. However, he was unmistakably right that helping workers realize that their being exploited was a fundamental and an essential part of their capitalist system was the freeway to class consciousness. Giving members of oppressed classes and all workers a better view of how their lives would be under communism is vital for the socialist project to succeed.

In most advanced countries the ten measures he listed are applicable and they are follows.

1. Ending of property in land and submission of all rents of land to community purposes.

2. A heavy liberal or advanced income tax.

3. Elimination of all rights of inheritance.

4. Appropriation of the property of all incomers and rebels.

5. Concentration of credit in the hands of the country, by means of a national bank with its capital and a private monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of transport and communication in the hands of the nation.

7. Extension of implements of production and factories possessed by the State; ensuring the cultivation of waste-lands, generally improving the soil in agreement to a common idea.

8. Equal liability for all people to work. Industrial armies have to be established especially for agriculture sector.

9. Putting together agriculture and manufacturing industries and gradually abolishing the division between town and country by ensuring that the population is equally distributed over the country.

10. Public schools to avail free education for all children and children’s factory labor to be abolished. Education and industrial production should also be combined.

Thus, I learnt that communism does not deny any man the power to appropriate the yields of society; what it does is to rob him of the power to overpower the labor of others through such appropriations.
