I personally belong to the Millennial Generation since this generation encompasses individuals born between 1982 to the 2000s. The Millennial Generation individuals are aged thirty-two years old and below. My siblings all belong here since we were all born during the same period. My mother was born between 1965 and 1980; this places her on the Generation Xs, whereas my dad was born in the period between 1946 and 1964, and this makes him fall under the Baby Boomers era. Additionally, my grandmother and grandfather both belong to the Silent Generation (The Society 4). I have previously heard about the generations in people’s discussions, in the social media and in school.
My family members have a strong connection to the Vietnam War. This is because my grandfather served in the US Military. He was among the soldiers who were taken to Vietnam to fight against the North Vietnamese. He was injured on his leg, which up to today makes him limp. I think that America’s incursion in Vietnam was unwarranted and ill informed. I suppose that President Kennedy involved the country in the war motivated by self-ego, which led to the demise of thousands of Americans along with disabling of many more (BBC NEWS 2).
My most admired president is
President Clinton. Despite a few criticisms about his personal endeavors,
during his tenure, America experienced a lot of growth in terms of international
and local trade. Additionally, America was never involved in unnecessary wars
with other nations in the world (NBC News 3). Thus, I mostly admire him since
any global peace issues arising were solved through peaceful negotiations
(NBC/WSJ 2). I also regard President Clinton as one who was always honest
regarding issues facing the nation and people of the United States (Henretta,
Edwards, and Self 23).
