Morality VS. Reality by Farooq Tareen

There are two things in this world. The first thing is what one ought to do as a human beings while the second is what one actually does. In many cases these differ. Some choices are led in one direction by religion then another by science. It is confusing for someone who subscribes to both. Farooq Tareen tries to digs around this rift between two extremes. Could one dare to combine the two?

This book is very well researched and thought out. The author has an excellent grasp of the material. His genuine curiosity on the subject shines through as he takes the reader through his musings and findings. The book does not selectively choose areas of exploration. It gives equal opportunity to every area with exhaustive presentations of their relevance. 

It is truly wonderful how the book explores either side with equally keen interest. A reader will still feel like they retain the right to their opinion at the end f the book. The book does not exactly lean on the religious side. It so a subject worth exploring more as it has baffled many for eons. The author’s work is a great starting point for helping people minimize crisis of belief. 

There is nothing like a book about a complex subject but presented in very simple language. It elevates the reading experience. It opens up the mind and makes the book so much more worth reading. Obnoxious and colored language just takes attention away from the material and makes it such a tedious task to get through every page. This book is the former. The sentence construction is so uncomplicated. It grabs the attention of the reader. Not just from with the interesting subject. Not just with the in depth research. Not just with the passionate curiosity that colors every page either. 

However, despite how wonderful this book is, there are some issues. For example, some paragraphs are very long. They drone on for longer than they should. With a complex subject like this, it is best to keep to smaller paragraphs. It is like giving the reader chewable bits of the material. They have to be big enough to satisfy and yet small enough so that the reader does not choke. The overall structure of the book is also quite disturbing. The font is fine but the pages still look cramped and tight. It may interrupt the reading this breaking concentration. 

The subject is meaningful. The writing is superb. The thought process is brilliant. The research is deep and all relevant. The book is fair to either side. This is a good book to read when one reaches that inevitable point in life where they face a crisis of belief. It may not provide answers but one will understand that it is okay not to choose either religion or science. This book also reiterates the importance of conforming reality to morality. Four stars out of five for this book. It is an excellent read. Do not rush through it, savor it.
