Paragraph Practice

Our personalities have a lot to do with how others approach us. My personality type according to the Jung Typology test is INFJ. The personality of an individual determines how people are able to approach them. This means that people with an easy going personality are likely to have more friends and generally a wider circle of friends. However, being an introvert is complicated because the level of interaction is limited. This means that the type of people who interact with an IFNJ type of personality have to be careful not to cross their interaction boundaries (Krekels and Pandelaere). Being an introvert also means that I am able to make a sound judgment as a result of lengthy observation supported with a bit of intuition. I make sound judgments by observation mainly because I find it difficult to indulge in conversations with new people. I listen more and speak less. I can engage in discussions with people but I am hardly the first to speak about my thoughts without thinking them through. I am accommodative of different types of people because I believe in diversity. 

Having a considerate personality allows me to address the concerns of others before my own. Additionally, I am likely to have too many people coming to me with their problems merely because I am approachable that it makes me uncomfortable. However, I am hardly the person to show a person in problems that I would rather be handling something different. I prefer to retreat into a shell where I am unreachable to recharge my socializing energy. I take seriously the diversity of people, their actions and weigh my position in the society as a result of my feelings or thoughts.

Occasionally, I find myself in conversations attempting to discover the needs of the other person. For example, at work when I am put on assignments with others, I am usually the one in the group asking, “What do you feel?’, or “would anyone like to add anything?’ I like to accommodate the needs of other people when I can. I find it easy to back down in an argument and ask for other people’s opinions when working in a group. This is because, I trust my intuition more than my ability to sense things (Widhyastika, Sutarsyah, and Suparman). Additionally, I have strong judgment skills, which rarely ever change unless there is an absolute need to.

Being considerate makes it easier for others to come to me with questions and concerns. I sometimes act on issues based on how I think or feel about them. I trust my intuition and as long as it supports my thoughts or feelings, I act accordingly. For instance; I had to turn in my friend to the police because of engaging in illegal acts. I was faced with a dilemma of protecting her from being my friend but at the same time, I felt she was taking advantage of the friendship. I ended up turning her in because I could not decide whether or not the friendship was going to help her change or drag me into problems. At the end of the day, I assessed the situation and judged that she needed to face the consequences of her actions. 

Though sometimes the approach can become overwhelming, my personality welcomes it. To conclude, I understand my personality better but cannot be confined to being described by the four letters. I find that I can better understand myself after taking the test. I am able to interpret why I act in a certain way when the situation calls for it. Taking the test was informative because it was able to create an awareness in me. I am able to fit into the society better and with less likelihood of creating conflict and misunderstanding.
