In Piaget’s stages children creates ideas. In cognitive development at Piaget’s stages, children’s are not limited to acquiring information from teachers and parents, but, instead, tend to develop their own knowledge. The Piaget’s stages include; sensorimotor which occurs from the stage of zero years to two years, preoperational stage which occurs at two to seven years, the concrete operational which occurs at seven to eleven years, and legal working which occurs at adolescence.
At the sensorimotor stage, children use the motor activities without applying symbols. There is minimal knowledge at sensorimotor stage since only physical interaction and experiences are available. At this stage, children cannot predict reaction and only learn by trial and error. Children become more cognitive as they become more and more mobile. Language development also begins at this stage.
In Preoperational stage, children use language to communicate. In this stage, the children can comprehend and express relationship between the ancient and forthcoming. In this stage intelligence is not based on logic but is egocentric. Finally, in concrete operational stage, intellectual development is identified by the logic, with a relation to concrete. Under Piaget’s development, intellectual development is a long life process which ends when the operational thoughts are attained.
