Introduction

The society is an ever changing entity. Its form today is different from what it was yesterday and certainly different form the form of tomorrow.

Thesis statement- The world changes with the growth and development in the environment, the attitude people have towards religion and politics and their consciousness towards the environment. 

Body 

Discrimination and poverty

The influential individuals in the society; politicians and the wealthy business men, went about their businesses as usual, seeking to capitalize on the misfortunes of the poor citizens.

Between the blacks and the whites, the hatred is still deeply rooted as propagated by the elites who stand to gain when the poor citizens are divided, however, with the broken society that Lauren lived in, people coexisted regardless of race or status.

The society is very chauvinistic, which is evident when Lauren attempts to invite Natividad to join their camp and once they do, her husband, Travis, does not trust Lauren to be capable of keeping watch over them during the night.

Environment

The people in Lauren’s walled community depended heavily on their subsistence crops for survival when the situation outside the walls was threatening to their lives, they respected and took care of the environment within their neighborhood.

Outside the walled community the environment was dilapidated with people living out in the streets without access to water or any basic need which exposed them to diseases and deaths, with this in play, the environment was hitting back at the people for failing to take care of it.

The goons in the streets abused a drug that was alleged to make people find pleasure in watching fires, thus they destroyed the environment with fire and rendered people homeless and destitute while they also had no place to go back to as they torched everything within their vicinity.

Religion and politics

Religion is deeply etched in the Parable of the Sower, Lauren, the hero in the story is a minister’s child and her family is dedicated to assisting in supporting the Church and his work of bringing the community together.

Politics on the other hand divides the society down right to the church ministers as Lauren’s father differs with other people with regards to whether or not the space programs endorsed by the government are relevant and beneficial to the country.

Lauren and Bankole reveal a different view of people towards religion, Bankole went to church because his wife did same as Lauren did because of her father, and however, in private both had beliefs and views that differed. 

Conclusion

The composition and operations of the society changes constantly, altering the mindsets of people and their take on the political and environmental development.

The future with the current attitudes in the society is likely to take several steps back in terms of civilization of the society and progress in development of the economy.
