Interesting post Kristy Butler, especially on the role of nurse leaders in promoting evidence-based practice. I agree that nurse leaders play a critical role in implementing EBP within the clinical practice. You highlighted various roles played by nurse leaders in promoting evidence-based practice such as communication, providing education, developing a culture that encourages EBP, and allocating resources among others. In support of your discussion, recent evidence as presented by () indicate that key leadership skills such as having a clear vision and communicating the vision is critical. Other ways that nurse leaders can support the implementation of EBP is through use of proper interpersonal skills and continuing education to sustain commitment to EBP.

Hey Angela, your post about implementing change not being an easy thing reminds me a lot about a past experience where the organization sought to implement an evidence-based practice and the organization faced extreme resistance from nurse staff and physicians. You highlighted some interesting strategies that can be used to enhance the adoption and implementation of EBP in organizations. One outstanding approach you highlighted is creation of teams to help troubleshoot problems with the change process. You also mentioned about the use of incentives and I had to look it up and see whether that works with the implementation of EBP. Interestingly, as highlighted by Kueny, Shever, Mackin, and Titler (2015), use of incentives can be used to drive change within organizations. For instance, personal praise and recognition or a certain salary percentage in salary for active participants in driving change can be used.
