Response to The snows of Kilimanjaro

The theme of this narration is loss and conflict. The protagonist is slowly dying while at
the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and his wife stays with him till the very last moment. There is a lot
of conflict between the couple The characters of this story have a history of life before their
current situations and they were obviously happy. The plot of this story was symbolic and
generated the basis of the conflict they experienced.

Response to Hills like White Elephants

The theme of this narration is conflict. The male character experiences a feeling of
conflict where he needs something from his lady but does not know how it will affect their
relationship. Both characters love each other and this gives them a face of compassion towards
each other. The plot of this story given the setting of the events signifies the end of something
and the beginning of something new. Being at the train station is symbolic that one may be
leaving while the other either wants to come with them or be left behind. The plot blended well
with the setting.
