Hi Meaza,

You post is very informative for this discussion. You start off by describing a video of two very sick patients who are enjoying their last days of their lives with their family members. Being close to their loved ones is the one thing that gives them joy and satisfaction. It is vital for health institutions to offer high quality nursing services to elderly patients because they may not be in full control of their faculties (Hemberg, & Vilander, 2017). It would be important for caregivers to have good communication skills and be culturally competent when dealing with patients from different cultures. 

Your post gives critical discussion on three important factors that can help patients improve their experiences while at the hospital. These factors include affording patients’ time with family members, nurses having good communication skills, and being culturally competent. Which methods do you think can be adopted to improve cultural competence among nurses?

You start by giving a detailed discussion about reminiscence therapy and the different factors that play a crucial role in its successful use in patients. The main purpose of reminiscence therapy is to alleviate the feeling of loneliness, anxiety, and depression among older adults. You note that dealing with the aged can be challenging and it is therefore important for caregivers to ensure they have the skills and experience of dealing with such delicate patients. Family disintegration in the modern era is the main reason why the aged are depressed and lonely (Elias, & Neville, 2015). Over time, people have become more detached from their families and probably devoted their time to activities that do not involve their families. What are other effects of family disintegration that specifically affect younger patients?
