SST101 : Principles Of Project Management : Solution Essays

Question:

1.(Project Planning) will continue from Study Unit 2 by elaborating on the estimating of project times and costs. Cost, time and budget are the lifeline for control; hence it is important to understand these standards for comparing actual and planned project time and costs throughout the life of any project. As part of project planning, we will discuss the steps taken to develop a project plan. We will also understand how to use a project network diagram as a tool for planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress.

 2. (Project Execution), we transit into the execution and implementation of projects. We will assess the importance of risk management as part of project execution and outline three steps of identification, assessment and response development. We will then take a look at scheduling resources and costs, and describe the steps taken to schedule resources and costs as well as to appreciate its benefits.

3.(Project Monitoring and Control), as part of project monitoring and control, we will cover the various methods that we can use to effectively track progress and measure performance, and dive into Earned Value Analysis as one of the key industry standards to measure a project’s progress. We will learn how creating a team identity will help a project manager manage a project more effectively. The importance of team management must not be disputed; hence we need to identify the avenue a project manager can leverage to manage project teams.

4. (Project Closure) we will conclude the course with a quick recap of the key areas that we have covered from Study Units 1 to 5. We will then consider why project closure is important as the last step of the project management process. We will alsolist the project closure activities needed to close the project successfully. We have also inserted Topic 12: Introduction to Agile project management – as Agile project management is a growing practice in project management. We will evaluate Agile and understand why Agile is replacing some of the traditional project management concepts.
