In the society we are living in today, we have both current and emerging issues that we need to educate our children in during their early childhood. Amongst them is technology that has become one of the major factors involving young children (Winsor & Allen 12). In today’s world, children that are young have developed sense of creativity and initiative. They have developed curiosity regarding the world their living in and more so about their learning systems. They are therefore, developing their abilities and exploring them so as to communicate via art work, blocks, and media and through singing and dancing so as to represent their experiences and ideas (Jalongo & Heider 14) Technology has therefore been their outlet thus enabling them, to demonstrate their learning and creativity.
As an early childhood educator, I would therefore, allow children to explore media experiences that are appropriate and interactive and those that are excellently designed and also facilitate their usage of touchscreens so as to boost their success (Winsor & Allen). I will also give them opportunities for exploring and feeling keyboard computers and traditional mouse so that they can utilize them as search engines and using them for a wide variety of websites.
As an educator, in will record their stories or even record them while they are playing and their plays then make these videos and audios to enhance their progression in their learning systems. I will also come up with ways of storytelling with these children using digital means. Also create photos of children’s work or plays and also create books that are digital then attach these audio files that are digital with the narrator being that particular child (Gargiulo & Kilgo 13).
I will also provide technologies that are assistive and appropriate for those children that needs special attention. I will also capture artworks that have been created by children and also the photos that they will have taken of their block buildings videotape their plays and replay for them. Lastly, I would celebrate accomplishments of children with medias that are digital and display them on classroom’s websites or digitalized projects.
