The age-group of choice for this paper is Kindergarten aged kids. This age group is most appropriate because they tend to develop their behavior. At the same time, during this age, when an erroneous behavior is recognized at this point, it is corrected. This is important for teachers handing children at this age, they can easily treat them correctly by applying the most appropriate theory of development to guide them. Children have to be guided well at an early age so that in their adulthood they grow up being agreeable people. It is important that the teachers ensure that children under their care develop the best possible way they can. 

The first theory that applies to educating children at this age is the psychoanalytic theory by Freud (1935)

Early experiences with parents shape the personalities of the children growing up. The problems in behavior observed in children in early ages is determined by the fact that during their early ages, they skipped a stage in development. It is important that children are treated as individual people as opposed to how the society tends to pin all the blame on the relationship between the mother and the child. Problems in development of the children has always been blamed on the mother’s actions. When the mother was well involved in the child’s life, the child grew up well adjusted. According to Freud, the development of a child depended on the parent’s and the way they interact. In order to correct a behavioral problem in a child, play therapy is recommended for the parents and the child in question. (Souza, 2011)

The second theory is the behaviorist theory developed by Skinner (1935)

Under this theory, the environment of the child determines how fast they develop and grow. This is the theory that teachers use when they insist that all the children must go through a conducive environment for them to have a successful development rate. The environment has to have the qualities of reinforcing the ability of the child to develop at the right speed. The problems a child encounters when growing up are related to the type of environment they grow up in. It is important for the teachers that the environment within which a child grows, the behavior reflects. The behaviorist’s theory has it that children’s developmental problems are always caused by the environmental limitations in their childhood. It is important that a child in kindergarten is treated and managed by the way they relate to their environment. (Skinner, 2017)

The third theory is the socio cognitive theory Bandura (1986)

This theory supports the idea that children learn through observations. This means that a child will always emulate what the people around them do. In the long run, the child’s development is affected by the way people behave around them. A child will always behave in a way that mirrors their past experiences. The experiences of a childhood have always been responsible for creating the basis for the behavior of the child while in the company of other children. Like all the theories of the development, the socio cognitive theory focused on the initiation of behavior for a child. The socio-cognitive theory also develops a person’s ability to control themselves later in life. For children at the kindergarten level, the development of the behavior is important. At this point, the children learn how to manage their tempers and other emotions.
