The Harvest: Follow the Heart by Rod Palmer

Lorraine is doing as fine as one can after her world is turned upside down by the death of her son. At home, she drinks and converses with her beloved Isaiah. She is coping, showing up to work, and wearing the mask she is supposed to when dealing with clients at Sinclair & Mercer Fine Jewellery. That is until Mr. Hollis shows up and shoots it up all to hell. 

The tall stranger presents her with information that calls into question her son’s death. The police could not care less. As far as they are concerned, they have the right person in custody and that is that. Lorraine then turns herself into a formidable force. Woman on a mission to seek justice and absolutely nothing to lose. She follows the heart as previously advised and finds herself in a dark abyss with guns pointed at her head. Face holds the key to the truth. The key that will unlock justice for her son. She is damned if she does not take it. 

Lorraine is an excellent character. The depiction of her emotions is raw and exactly what is expected for a bereaved mother. The author does a good job of allowing the reader to feel the different emotions that Lorraine experiences through her journey. Most people who have gone through the same can identify with her need to go in search for truth regardless of the danger that lurks in the shadows.

The story hits the ground running and does not stop. The reader is treated to adventure and intrigue every step of the way. Every single twist and turn creates a vivid mental picture that only works to enhance the literary experience. This book is deserving of five stars
