The journey of disciplines in Philosophy

Instinctively, the origin of all knowledge is curiosity as has been repeatedly proven. Starting from a young age, as a child is keen on knowing the taste of every item it comes across so is man and knowledge. The long period upon which knowledge is verified as truth is what really matters because, the longer the wait, the more accurate account is bound to be. Philosophical proclamations are the root of all present disciplines and the content that they study must have started out in discipline. It is that along the way of philosophically analyzing and explaining a phenomenon or an event that some individual specialized on that subject matter birthing the disciplines as we know them. In this paper, we shall exemplify the disciplines that emerged during the scientific revolution showing how philosophy contemplated the basic ideas. Also, the distinctive way of thinking and analyzing issues will be proved to have been philosophical in nature.

It is normal that man felt ill equipped in his own world not knowing what he lived on or where his place was in the entity of the universe. As such, he set out trying to formulate a context that could define the world he lived in. during this era, what the philosophers/thinkers tried to do was to explain things with the knowledge they had. For instance, they did not put much effort into categorizing the heavenly objects and those of the earth. They understood that there was a natural law that made the heavy objects fall, and the light to float out to the sphere of the moon. It is this basic thinking that Aristotle employed to explain how a candle burns with an upright frame. Despite the many thoughts presented to explain these phenomena, their underlying was purely self recognition and celebrity and thus added no academic value whatsoever.

Religion is a major theme that comes out in this text and to address it would be to address a number of issues that are in the text. In the second article, the Bible is mentioned as having been used as a legible source of information upon which studies were made to estimate the age of the world. There is no real scientific method of verifying this context but the discovery of Nicholas Steno of how geographical features such as the strata on mountains can be used to estimate the time elapsed since their formation seems to be a better option.

Jean of Rupescissa a famous chymist is among those who treated Biblical context as personal guides in their academic work. He advocated for the abolishment of traditional medicines for more ‘scientifically refined’ ones. The method of the ‘purification’ majored on distillation and fermentation of known medicines to ‘sift’ out the medicine from the poison. He compared the ideology on God’s creation stipulating that all matter consists of three items as the trinity, tria-prima. His disciples later analyzed the text which he dictated and based the entire universe on his principles, showing that all things are transformed in a cycle to purify them. For instance, the rain is only water but in the pure form which has undergone distillation for purification to occur. The human body is the item that is purified in the process of death.

Similar to most other excursions, we observe that knowledge is acquired through a process. This is demonstrated in the way a single item has been treated by numerous authorities in order to arrive at a conclusion. This in a sense is evolution of an idea which results in elimination of flaws and miscalculations in the original models. For instance, Boyle’s gas law that is still used today in chemistry was developed by Robert Boyle who used a barometer to coin it. The barometer was an achievement of Torricelli who invented it while and tested it in different attitudes to demonstrate its use.

It is through the above that a relationship is realized between most of the early works. The barometer for instance developed more questions as to what was left in the observed region that the liquid used vacated. Some theorists said that it was vacuum while others who were still embedded in the old system of thought disagreed and said that nature denies the existence of vacuum. Otto Von Guericke’s experiment demonstrated the existence of atmospheric pressure and the immense power it has. The two experiments are tied almost to the study of one item though different methods are employed.

In conclusion, we identify that a relationship exists in most studies that were conducted in this era of scientific evolution and the idea of additional importance is realized. Just as it has been shown, a scientist on his own environment could in fact feel intrigued to study an item that another does feel the same about and their total input contributes to the conclusion of their query in later years. Galileo under house arrest studied how objects fall in relation to their bodies’ weight and to another extent, Aristotelian science is a science of causes and would agree with some of his assumptions. The extent to which an idea or discovery need to be studied so as to reach the level it can be passed as quantifiable knowledge is truly limitless and who is to say what we know today cannot be proved otherwise? This paper has significant value to academicians who study the process of gaining knowledge; ideally philosophical knowledge for it helps shed light on the way a principle can be analyzed in different perspectives and produce more than one truth.
