THE LONG, LOST EXIT HOME

The story starts with an earthquake which happened at the Santa Mira county coast. Carl Tubbs, a sewer safety engineer for the public works department is tasked with inspecting the sewer system and ensuring every equipment is in good condition. Carl loved the bottle and was even working when he had indulged in booze. He did his work well, regardless.

The book gets more interesting as new characters are introduced and more bizarre events occur. There is a murderer in the loose. The killer seems to aim at female victims, who he also mutilates. This story was so bizarre to me that a chill ran down my spine the moment I read about it. 

This book is full of peculiar and perplexing stories. Every chapter brings on a new twist. Making the book fun to read. There is a part of the book which was so ironic to me, and I read on because I needed to satisfy my curiosity. A woman encounters a stranger. Now, there’s nothing crazy about a woman meeting a stranger, except in this scenario there is a media announcement that there is a serial killer in the loose. The stranger is the serial killer. How thrilling was that part!

I loved Carl and his work, but unfortunately, he got to be a victim of an alien attack. Oh, that was so heartbreaking to read. Laura Masterson was another favorite character.  Even with all the dangers around and the risks present, Laura protected a young girl from the dangers. That was a selfless act. It showed that humanity still exists. I loved that the author created that scenario, as it made me come back to my normal self.

This book is nothing short of chilling. The stories are outlandish, strange, and out of this world, literally. The best thing about it all is that the reader stays entertained from the first chapter to the last. Some paragraphs can be too creepy to read if you get scared easily. 

Every story is well written and the storyline flows easily. The characters are unique in their own way and they individually make the story complete. The author’s style of description is one of the many good things about the book. When talking about a creature, the reader could form a mental picture of it even if they had never seen it. When describing events, the author was detailed that the reader could not fail to understand what was happening. Though some mini-stories are full of suspense, the reader can connect the dots and enjoy the story to the end. 

It is an entertaining book and lovers of sci-fi, adventure, fantasy, and alien invasion stories will totally enjoy flipping through the pages. There are some parts of the book which read like a Stephen King, excerpt; the stories were both spine-chilling and amusing.

I wouldn’t categorize “The Long, Lost Exit Home” as a horror book, but I must admit that some chapters scared me to the bone. Adventure, adult dark fantasy, suspense, and an action parked plot is what you will get in this book. An amazing read for leisure time.
