Hinduism can be divided into two parts personality oriented (Gods and Goddesses) or principle oriented. And I believe I think of religion in a more principle oriented way and so karma yoga seems to call to me. If I was a Hindu, I would choose karma yoga of the four paths to moksha. I am choosing karma yoga because it suits the way I walk through life. This suits my personality because karma yoga is heavily based on the yoga through action or of action. And, me myself feel as that matches me the most, ethier you go 100% or not at all.
In Karma yoga the process of active meditation I believe matches me being part of the 21st century, it is that Karma Yoga would help me train myself to step beyond my ego and work with others. I believe another part of my Karma Yoga is, every Saturday, I Volunteer a school and teach kids my culture and mother tongue despite having already done over 114 hours. I could have simply left after doing 40 hours but I feel there is a need to provide service to the community and society regardless of the outcome. I love to help others, even without being attached to what the outcome is. The other three yoga’s to me do not suit my personality because I feel they do not truly describe or match the type of person I am.
The other Yoga’s I believe involve to me, being someone who is very patient and able to process a lot of information at a time. I have always found myself to be a more of a visual/hands on learner and someone who cannot sit in one spot for long until I need to go do something. I find it hard to concentrate working for a long time if I am not moving around. When action is performed selflessly, with full focus and attention, it brings fulfillment and freedom. Acting without being attached to the fruits of one’s deeds – this alone can lead to union with the Self, which is the goal of karma yoga. I believe this quote sums up what is required to fulfill the dharma of Karma yoga. Karma yoga I believe would require for me is at first, getting over bad daily habits I may have such as procrastinating and being lazy when I get home, playing video games or being on my phone. Another example could be is a lot of times I will leave things last minute or brush things to the side, such as homework or studying for a test. These habits will have to be improved and with that I will have to organize myself and be aware of what is given to me in the present moment.
To fulfill the dharma of my yoga, I will have to be able to unite my body and mind. Just like two oxen, when they are pulling in the same direction things will go well, but when they are not chaos may ensue. Over time, I will have to find myself having the correct mindset, which is to make everything on earth a potential source of bliss, wisdom, and awakening.
In conclusion, I chose Karma yoga because Karma yoga fits my life, which is being active, busy and enjoying hard work. This yoga would be the best for me follow to achieve my path to Moksha.
