In this essay I will be answering some questions such as why I started Taekwondo and why I am still in taking part in it.

I started Taekwondo in grade three because I always loved to try new things such as skating, gymnastics and even horseback riding but after a few classes I stopped taking them due to the fact that they didn’t really interest me like Taekwondo did. I have attended Taekwondo sessions even after quitting every other activity. I love taking part in class because it was such a fun class and as a bonus, I get to see my friends at least three times a week. Taekwondo actually teaches me something important like self-defense, reading people’s moves and how to avoid conflict.

When I started Taekwondo all I had in mind was being able to stand up for myself and not just get my brother to fix all my problems but now that I have gotten older I realized that I can stand up for myself even if I didn’t have Taekwondo. My goal has changed to something that pleases me and that is getting a black belt because once I achieve that goal, It will give me a great sense of accomplishment and a great motivation to achieve more goals in the future.

I’m positive that once I get my black belt things are going to change for me, I will learn more Bong Moo-yea, I will learn more advanced self-defence and I will also help a bit more in class to teach young students on doing the same that I have.

When I get my black belt I assume that the things that will change for me are going to be things like, a new poomsae like how I get one after every new belt I earn New expectations like knowing more Korean as well, I’ll learn more things that will probably be harder than what the color belts learn to do. When I become a black belt I will probably learn advanced self defence and more Bong Moo-yea. Also when I become a black belt I expect that my expectations will be a whole lot higher and that I will have to work three times harder than I already work but that won’t keep me from getting my black belt.

The morals and values of Taekwondo are very much alike with our virtues because they both are a different way of saying this is the right thing to do. Like a few of the morals and values of Taekwondo are being honest, being helpful and compassionate. Also being nice to an elder or listing to your parents are a few. When you are talking about the morals and values you have to remember that if your being disrespectful and not listing but talking over others you’re going against the morals and values of a black belt or Taekwondo. Actually, if you did do anything that goes against our morals and values it would also go against all human virtues, and that’s not a good thing.

In conclusion, I think the skill that I acquire in Taekwondo are skills that are helpful in life as well they teach me great morals between right and wrong. I cannot wait to get my black belt and as soon as I do, I plan on making sure I achieve my future goals to the best of my ability.
