Turning Muslims in Texas

Turning Muslims in Texas is a two-year-old documentary from British, the documentary got a lot of viewers who wished to know the stories of the white Texans who were Christians but turned into Islam. The documentary that got aired in the year 2003 depicts Texans who are praying in Arabic, attending a Dallas region mosque, and Muslim women of hijab-clad. The makers of the film gave a smart spin to the story line of converting into Islam, by focusing on the Texans who were Christians.

A married couple, Erick and Karen Meek, are among those in the 23 minutes film.  Meek, a transportation broker, states in the documentary that Christianity is what he wanted to become Islam. It has a magical pull. It is a way of life that selects to worship invisible God by a daily living process. In the documentary, the couple took their mother to the mosque for her first time. The old woman admits in front of a camera that she got shocked by the conversion of her son. She predicts that he will go back to being a Christian, and he will become a preacher.

In Texas, there are about 400, 000 Muslims and Islamic religion is growing rapidly in United States. Since 9/11 Islam converts have been many. Erick states that people have been attempting to learn about Islamic religion and understand Muslims.  The American-Islamic relation council approximates that the 1.5% of white Americans attend mosques in United States. Yasmine says that America should not fear and it would be good if the Muslims were many. She continued to say that if a kid asked her “who made this leaf” she would answer that Allah is responsible for making everything.
