Pleasesubmit your Microsoft Excel file that includes the following six items.
Item 1. A table like this one, where [KI] is constant, and in units of mol/L, while [(NH4)2S2O8] is changing, also in units of mol/L. Calculate your own reaction rates using the class’ times (linked above). Use determinations 1, 2, 3, 4 for it.
Calculate the reaction order in peroxydisulfate ion, the way you would for a lecture homework problem. I can help you if you need it.
Item 2. A table like the one below, but with [KI] changing and [(NH4)2S2O8] is not changing. Use the entire class’ data for table 2 to calculate the reaction rates.
Calculate the reaction order in iodide ion, the way you would for a lecture homework problem. I can help you if you need it.
Item 3. Calculate the rate constant k, using determinations 1 through 8 and the exponents (reaction orders) that you calculated in item 1 and item 2 above.
Show a table like this one, showing your calculated rate constants and the average k for all of those:
Item 4: Using Table 3, and the entire class’ data for determinations 9, 10, 11, 12, calculate the rate constants k for each temperature. Use the exponents (orders) that you calculated in items 1 and 2 above.
Show a table like this:
and another table like this:
Item 5: Using item 4, graph LN(rate constant k) versus 1/Temperature. Add a linear trendline, and show the equation and the R^2.
Show the graph, with equation, R^2, title, and labeled axes (hint: there are no units for LN(anything), and the units for 1/T will be 1/Kelvin.)
Item 6: Report the collision factor and the activation energy like this:
Remember, the slope of your line equation from item 5 is -Ea/R, so you must solve for Ea.
Remember, the y-intercept of your line equation is LN(A), so you must solve for the A.
Item 7: Calculate the catalyzed rate constant kcat using the whole class’ data from determinations 13, 14, 15, 16, and using the same exponents that you found for item 1 and item 2 above.
Show your results and the average kcat on your Excel sheet like this:
