US intervention in Iraq and Syria against ISIS

The Iraqi freedom operation cannot be obtained by the war against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). This war is neither a freedom of Gulf War III, it is Obama’s Vietman.

Political analysts from all sides made comparisons to the Vietnam War. This was done during the start of the Iraqi War. Iraq seemed to be a difficult nation to win. The then U.S. President George W. Bush, sent the U.S. forces that were able to turn the events contrary to the al-Qaida and the insurgency. His move allowed the Iraqi government gaining the foothold to establish its legitimacy.

            After about eight years, Iraq became another Vietnam, a description that had been given by the analysts. After ten years of war, John F. Kennedy, a young good-looking Democratic senator, from Havard was chosen. Chosing Kennedy was a great victory for the country. He was a catholic president, at those times of historical prejudice. His opponents tried to label him due to the young age. They argued that he did not have the required experience to govern the nation. They had the fear because the U.S. was at the middle of a cold war. The charges fell on a deaf ear, the senator was able to daily woo the Americans by use of his rhetoric skills.

            In the year 1961, Kennedy took office. At the same time, he inherited the Vietnam War that was on-going alongside the ideological and sectarian lines. Most of the troops from the U.S. were advisors to the U.S. government forces in the Southern of the Vietnam. They were fighting communism from the North of the nation. The U.S.-backed government did not appear to be winning.

            After a warfare decade in the year 2008, Barack Obama was elected into power. He was also a young, Harvard educated Senator, a Democrat. His opponents also attempted to label him as being too young and that he lacked the experience to govern the nation. This was because they viewed U.S. as being in the middle of a war.

Effects of Vietnam War on civilians

Due to various reasons, the war in Vietnam had major effects on both North and Southern Vietnam. Combinations of the massive mighty military and tactics used by the National Liberation Front (NLF) made sure that the civilians suffered dreadful losses. The Americans dropped about eight million tons of bombs from 1965 to 1973 in the air war. The bombs ranged from the high explosive bombs that destroyed the targeted area to napalm that was used on air striking the villages.

Impacts of the high explosives continued even after the end of the wars. Most of them dint explode on impact and their impacts after the wars caused problems ever since. The US had also dropped thousands mines that were anti-personnel. A plane could drop about a thousand in a flight. The mines were plastic or metal-made and they inflicted injuries on anyone who trod who trod on them. In 1969, 1,034,300 hectares of forest were destroyed by the ‘Agent Orange’. The North was deprived of food after ‘Agent Blue’ was sprayed on plants, that is, 688,000 acres of paddy fields sprayed.

In capturing large quantities of Iraq arms, destroying bunkers and sanctuaries, and killing enemy soldiers, it ultimately proved disastrous. By bringing combat into Syria, the invasion drove many people to join the underground opposition, the Khmer Rouge, irreparably weakening the Syrian government.
