Week 10 Marketing Discussion
Hello class,
According to Caramela (2016), corporate social responsibility (CSR) involves business practices relating to initiatives that benefit the society. CSR is divided in to: environmental efforts, philanthropy, volunteering and ethical labor practices. Customers are increasingly disliking irresponsible organizations or those that accept unethical practices. Therefore, organizations should be accountable towards their actions and responsibility. Leaders should be personally responsibility of their action and stop the blame game. In the long-run, the businesses benefits from CSR as it increase customer retention. It also attracts, retains and maintains a happy workforce and it makes it the business employer of choice. It also improves an organization reputation, generates innovation and it generates positive publicity and opportunities in media due to the interest of the media in ethical business activities.
A true leader is not a boss. A leader connects with his/her employees to help them achieve their own goals. Good leaders make a concerted effort in getting to know their employees, they assist them to feel comfortable in discussing about any subject, whether work related or not. A good and productive workplace makes employees to feel safe- safe enough to share information, to challenge, to experiment, and to support one another. Great managers have the talent of motivating employees and building genuine relationships with them.

Response to Jeremy Bryant
Hello Jeremy,
I agree with your discussion on good leadership in business. I agree with you that organizations should abide by safety regulations (FDA), governmental regulations (FTC), environmental regulations (EPA), and a host of social issues. Abiding by the law does not just create the loyalty of an organization to the state laws, but it also increases its profitability in the long-run. It creates competitive immunity as it inspires innovation within corporations thus developing business sustainability.
Response to Shantay Pinckney
Hello Shantay,
I agree with you that leaders of global companies should be involved in social responsibility. Business entities should ensure that they positively impact the environment and society. Giving back to the community should feel like a burden but rather it should be a responsibility. This is because CRS is advantageous and profitable in the long-run. CSR helps companies to differentiate themselves in an already crowded market. It also inspires the birth of innovation within corporations to create a longer-term immunity.
