Week 2- International Marketing Course Discussion

Hello class, I have used the seven (7) of chapter two in my country of choice which is Denmark. The seven criteria are type of economy, type of government, trade and capital flows, the commanding heights, Services provided by the state and funded through taxes, institutions, and markets. 

The type of Economy: Modern market economy

Type of Government: parliamentary constitutional monarchy

Trade and Capital Flows: Denmark is a net exporter of gas oil and food, enjoying a comfortable surplus of payment balance and is relying on imports of raw materials for the manufacturing sector. It is a member of EU, and the Danish legislation and regulations follow all issues in the EU standards (The World Factbook, 2016). 

The Commanding Heights: it has a strong public-sector TV broadcast and a state-owned broadcast radio, other government-owned infrastructures like roadways and railways privately and public owned utilities.  

Services provided by the State and Funded through Taxes: Denmark tax is divided into local income and state income tax. In Denmark, the personal income taxes are very high and are the largest part of the state budget and social welfare benefits. Worldwide, Denmark has the highest average salary level. The government also provides its citizens with free health and educational services.

Institutions: Denmark is among the least corrupted countries and bribery, and other corrupt practices are not part of the business and economy. Corruption is prohibited by the Danish criminal code that forbids passive and active bribery (GAN Integrity Inc., 2016).

Markets: The market state of Denmark in agriculture uses high technology, high dependence on foreign trade and advanced industry. The market of Denmark has an equitable income with extensive government measures.

Hello Adrian, I like your discussion on the seven criteria that characterize the economy of Australia. You have stated the type of economy for your country of choice is the mixed market economy. I have learned that based on Transparency Corruption Perceptions Index, Australia is one of the least corrupted countries. You have also stated the corruption state in the last four years. You have also stated that globally, the country is ranked fifth in economic freedom status. Australia has a minimal restriction on import of goods and services. What is Federal Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy?

Hi Jennifer, I like your discussion on the seven criteria that categorizes an economic system. Based on these criteria, you have identified the type of economy which is Social Market Economy. The type of government in Germany is the Federal Parliamentary Republic. You have also explained the types of taxes in the country. These taxes include value added, wage, accessed income and corporate. The anti-corruption and bribery law has led to several prosecutions making the country the third-largest enforcer on bribery. The market in Germany as you stated is regulated by the federal government. The economy of Germany continues to suffer from low investment levels. In conclusion, what is the impact of the commanding heights in the country?
