Through IDST research, students have learned new methods of conducting research in a more conclusive manner as they are taught how to combine two or more disciplines while conducting research. By doing this, students gather much information that they find relevant to their topic of study, and this enables them to perform an analysis of what different authors have researched on the topic. After a careful analysis, the students come up with a final report on the topic under research. It also helps students to gain more knowledge that they would not have obtained if they did not use the research method.

The data should also be recent because there are advancements that happen in various disciplines regularly, and it is necessary that the gathered data to be have been recently conducted to avoid confusion when analyzing.

The use of various disciplines to conduct research may also be confusing because a researcher gathers a lot of information from different authors. The use of different books, journals, and articles from different disciplines causes confusion because some authors may have varying views on the topic under study. This is challenging to the researcher as the individual may not know the data to use for the study.

“Writing as a researcher” was a major theme in this course. Why is it important to write in neutral voice when making arguments based on scholarly evidence?

Writing in research requires one to be neutral because it will ensure that an individual conducts a detailed research. If the researcher takes a side on the topic under study, the information given in the report will be biased because it will reflect the researcher’s point of view (Giles 215). The researcher should gather and critically analyze all the information presented in the study without being biased. Maintaining a neutral voice also helps the researcher to understand clearly the topic.
